Operations Manager

We are looking for a talented individual to join our award-winning team.  We as a firm are naturally agile and the role will involve working with our teams across our office network.    The role includes working from home which we have been doing since before the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is a newly created role with many of the responsibilities previously being shared across the management team but with the continued growth and success of the firm we have defined and created this important role to help support our teams and the continued demand for the firm's legal services.    It is an exciting time to join the firm, and the successful candidate will be given autonomy in the position.

Runcorn, following the opening of the new Mersey gateway bridge has excellent transport links with Merseyside and Cheshire.  Our Runcorn office is a modern open plan office located next to The Shopping City with free parking and a large selection of shopping and leisure facilities upon its doorstep and has a large footfall. Our Liverpool office is based near to Aintree the home of the Grand National and is a long-established office (over 40 years) and has free on street parking and is a 2-minute walk from Orrell Park train station on the Northern Line a few stops from Liverpool City Centre. In the last 18 months it has been fully refurbished and had air conditioning installed.     The Warrington office is in an ideal location on a busy high street in the town centre.  It has also been fully modernised ad recently refurbished.  Our newest office in Maghull is in a thriving high street area with high footfall.  Bell Lamb & Joynson utilises modern saas cloud-based systems and shares back-office support across our office network.

General Responsibilities:

  • To support the management team in the day-to-day operations of the firm.
  • To support heads of departments to deliver their objectives.
  • To support the Financial Manager in delivering the firms operational budgets.
  • To support and directly manage the firm's administration team who are essential to the firm's day to day operations.
  • To work with existing and develop new relationships with the firm's suppliers and key stakeholders.
  • To ensure the firm is compliant with health and safety requirements.
  • To support the firms HR and New Business teams and assist with planning future capacity and recruitment.
  • To support the firm in its compliance obligations, its legal aid contract compliance and be the lead for our ISO9001 and Lexcel accreditations.  This will include conducting annual reviews with the managing partner of external suppliers and our desire to seek continual improvement and to remain at the forefront of the provision of legal innovation and the provision of legal services to clients.
  • As a leading Law Firm in its use of IT you will support the firm's operations in terms of use and implementation of new technology as well as ensuring our IT is properly supported and fit for purpose.
  • To support the continued growth of the firm as we look to open offices in new locations as part of our growth strategy.

The role requires the following: -

  • A proven track record in operational management – preferably within a law firm environment.
  • Excellent people skills with experience of managing people in line with the firm's ethos of being a standout employer and putting people before profit.
  • A positive mindset who would flourish in an agile and growing business.
  • Well organised individual with a high attention to detail.
  • A strong team player.  Bell Lamb & Joynson is a strong advocate that all our colleagues have equal importance and the entire team needs to work together to create success.
  • Experience/ knowledge of either ISO9001 and Lexcel (preferably both) together with  Cyber Essentials/CQS.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of compliance.
  • Proven track record in project management
  • Ability to blue sky and be innovative.

  • Salary bracket for this role is £45,000 to £55,000 but will consider going beyond this  for a standout exceptional candidate who brings experience and expertise with a proven track record of supporting exceptional growth and improved financial performance  of a law firm.
