Celebrating National Mentoring Month at Bell Lamb & Joynson

What better way to start a new year than by setting out everything you want to achieve in the future.

When you’re talented, and ambitious, it can sometimes seem like your career goals are so far away that they’re virtually unreachable. Many need that helping hand and an opportunity to gain first-hand experience to see what our industry is all about.

That’s why as a firm we are extremely passionate about supporting and developing future talent in the legal sector and we’ve been using National Mentoring Month to shine a spotlight on some of the brilliant individuals that are currently a part of our business.

We know the value of investing in our team members to create a strong and successful workforce and that’s why we’ve worked hard to ensure our business environment is an encouraging and positive space for continued learning. We’ve created a support network that runs right through the firm for apprentices - from the finance and admin teams, paralegals, solicitors, trainee solicitors to junior lawyers, and beyond.

Our teams are passionate about career development and we match that enthusiasm with opportunity.

Our Managing Partner Mike Leeman said: “As a business, we are really committed to helping all our staff to feel empowered in their working life, and we maintain that commitment throughout their professional journey.”

Business Administration Apprentice Harry joined our firm back in October 2020 and after being paired with his mentor Jane Wilson, our fantastic Business Administration Assistant, he has gained invaluable hands-on experience.

Harry said: “I have learned how we deal with many situations within the business admin department, learning law terminology, account payments, phone calls, and letters to clients. The latter being my favourite part as I get to cover all departments of the firm. When the post arrives at the office, we scan the documents into relevant team members that are handling the case - I get to read these documents to gain an insight into what things mean and why it is needed. I have gained tons of experience working with Jane and I love getting to know everyone in each team.”

All of us here at Bell Lamb & Joynson know the difference a supportive work environment can make to your career development, and that’s why we’ll be celebrating the next generation of legal professionals, not just this month – but for as long as we have them as part of our team.
