Melissa Hughes
Melissa Hughes joined our Private Client department as a solicitor in October 2024, bringing with her over a decade of experience in the legal field.
Melissa studied Law at Edge Hill University, graduating in 2017, before completing her Masters in Legal Practice and LPC at BPP Law School in Liverpool in 2018. Her career in law, however, began much earlier in 2013 when she started working as a paralegal at Scott Rees & Co in Newton-le-Willows while still in college.
After completing her LPC, she secured a training contract and qualified as a solicitor in 2021. Initially focusing on Personal Injury, Melissa shifted to Conveyancing and Private Client work after qualification, managing both areas until she ultimately took charge of the Private Client department.
In April 2023, Melissa transitioned to GW Legal in Liverpool, where she was leading the Private Client department exclusively, stepping away from conveyancing to concentrate on areas such as drafting Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs), obtaining Grants of Probate, and estate administration.
Outside of work, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, especially her two young children, and loves going on holidays and weekend getaways. She also plays netball competitively in a local league.
